Secondary Mentors
Mentors are experienced educators with demonstrated evidence of success in the classroom and recognized by administrators and colleagues alike. The role of mentors is essential for developing the skills and knowledge of teacher education candidates. Among the roles and responsibilities, mentors:
- Introduce candidates to the culture and flow of the school and curriculum
- Regularly collaborate, co-plan and gradually co-teach
- Continually make practice public and provide targeted feedback to candidates as they begin to teach
- Support candidates in meeting Lewis & Clark’s graduate program requirements, including turning over lead teaching responsibilities
- Ask for support from LC faculty whenever a question arise.
