McKenzie Thompson

Graduate Student
Professional Mental Health Counseling
(she/her)

Hi there! My name is McKenzie (she/her), and I am a white, queer-identifying, graduate student in the Professional Mental Health Counseling program at Lewis & Clark. I returned to Oregon to enter the counseling profession after spending a decade abroad working in education and community development. My passion for working with individuals and family members who have been negatively affected by gambling addiction has only grown since I joined the L&C Problem Gambling Services team in 2022. I approach therapy holistically and collaboratively. I believe you are the expert of your own experience, and I will join with you to explore your motivations, values, resources, and needs in working towards your treatment goals. I will help by providing tools, asking questions, offering insights, augmenting your knowledge about addiction, highlighting your strengths, and considering how social, cultural, and economic systems are impacting your experience. Together we can work toward making changes which are meaningful and sustainable for you.
