NBCC Foundation Scholarships Available

The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the 2015 application period for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program (NBCC MFP) and the NBCC Foundation military and rural scholarships. 

The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the 2015 application period for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program (NBCC MFP) and the NBCC Foundation military and rural scholarships. The NBCC Foundation will award 23 doctoral-level counseling fellowships, 80 master’s-level counseling fellowships and 10 master’s-level counseling scholarships.

The following fellowships and scholarships are available: 

  • 23 doctoral minority fellowships of up to $20,000;
  • 40 master’s minority fellowships of up to $5,000 for mental health counseling students;
  • 40 master’s minority fellowships of up to $11,000 for addictions counseling students;
  • 5 master’s military scholarships of up to $5,000; and
  • 5 master’s rural scholarships of up to $5,000.

Eligible applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with racially and ethnically diverse populations, rural populations, or military populations and commit to providing mental health and/or substance abuse and addictions counseling services to that underserved population. Applicants must hold or commit to obtaining the National Certified Counselor (NCC) certification.

The application deadline for the doctoral fellowship is November 15, 2014, and fellowships will be awarded in February 2015. The application deadline for the master’s fellowships and scholarships is November 15, 2014, and awards will be announced in January 2015.
