HEALTH INSURANCE UPDATE FOR GRAD STUDENTS

Enroll by October 1 for Fall Student Health Insurance Coverage

Enroll by October 1 for Fall Coverage

Lewis & Clark wants to set our students up for success.  We offer health insurance for Graduate students to allow students to access the health care they need to be successful.  Enrollment in the Lewis & Clark Student Health Insurance Plan is voluntary for Graduate students throughout the academic year.

Students who want to be covered by the Lewis & Clark Student Health Insurance Plan must go online each semester to enroll and pay their premium.  The deadline for enrolling in fall coverage is October 1.  The deadline for enrolling in spring semester coverage (which includes summer coverage) is February 1, 2014.  Summer only coverage is also available.

Improved benefits for 2013-2014

Each year, Lewis & Clark reviews its student health insurance program to ensure that the program offers effective and affordable coverage for students.  Program reviews in the last two years have also had to ensure that our insurance program meets the requirements of health care reform.  Lewis & Clark has joined a consortium of Northwest colleges to purchase student health insurance.

For 2013-2014, Lewis & Clark has again selected Aetna Student Health to provide its student health insurance program.  What’s more, there are some exciting changes that will take effect this fall.

  • Maximum benefit increased from $100,000 to $500,000 per academic year.
  • Summer coverage is now included for all students who enroll in spring health insurance coverage.
  • The new policy will include an out-of-pocket maximum of $2,600 with a $100 deductible.
  • Eligible fees incurred at our Student Health Service or Counseling Service will be covered at 100% with no deductible.
  • Office visits for in-network physicians are now covered at 100% after a $20 per visit copay.
  • Emergency room services are now generally subject only to a copay with no deductible or coinsurance.

As with any health insurance policy, we encourage students to read the fine print about these benefits to make sure the Aetna Student Health policy is right for them.  For additional information, please also see the Student Health Insurance web page FAQ.
