New Grant Supports Media Production at Community Counseling Center

Art Therapy Instructor Kris Bella led the art therapy program in writing a grant that was recently awarded through Mount Hood Cable Regulatory Commission for $71,000 that will supply equipment for the digital media lab at the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center. The program will use the funding to create an art therapy specific video to air on public access television.

Exploring Ireland With Outdoor Writers Association of America

Educational Leadership Professor Lisa Collins was invited to tour Ireland thanks to her environmental advocacy work. “Ireland is amazing in a way I did not expect. The oppression in the past mirrors what we experienced in the US. Learning the history from the people who love their land and community is heartwarming. What a dream!”

Mentoring the Next Generation of Minority Fellowship Scholars

Professional Mental Health Counseling, Addictions Professor Alexia de León mentored three PMHC-A students who received the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) addictions scholarship for $15,000 each. Professor de León has now mentored a total of 15 students to receive this scholarship to date.

NSF Funded Opportunity Pairs LC Students with Local STEM teachers

Teacher education professor Liza Finkel talks to L&C’s undergraduate student newspaper, The Mossy Log, about an upcoming summer program that will pair 10 local middle and high school teachers with undergraduate students interested in teaching science or math.

Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School of Education and Counseling will train school psychologists to effectively support students in high-need rural and urban districts.

Krishnan Ranjani, MAT ’11, Honored for Excellence in Teaching

The White House Office of Science and Technology announced the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching awards on January 13, 2025. Krishnan was recognized as a 2023 Mathematics awardee from Oregon.

The Lewis & Clark Art Therapy program has released a self-reflective, 22-minute documentary film exploring the program’s expansion into the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center and discussing the benefits that the new space has to offer to both graduate students and community members alike.
