Krishnan Ranjani, MAT ’11, Honored for Excellence in Teaching

The White House Office of Science and Technology announced the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching awards on January 13, 2025. Krishnan was recognized as a 2023 Mathematics awardee from Oregon.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the top honors bestowed by the U.S. Government to K-12 STEM teachers. Each year, up to 110 outstanding educators from across the country may be recognized by the White House for their passion, dedication, and impact in the classroom.

This award shines a light on the profession of teaching itself. The application process has energized my commitment to be reflective and to make each student’s learning experience safe, welcoming, engaging, and challenging so all—particularly those facing systemic barriers—may thrive in STEM-related endeavors. Teaching demands adaptability, collaboration, and lifelong learning—thank you to my family, colleagues, students, and parents for inspiring and supporting me through all of it.
