Alumni Application Information
The graduate school welcomes alumni who wish to continue their education and professional development as teachers and educational leaders.Please use the guidelines below to determine which application process is applicable to you.
Alumni Application Guidelines
Applicants who were admitted to the graduate school and have completed or graduated from a degree, endorsement, or licensure program within the last five years and are seeking admission to another licensure or degree program within the same academic program are eligible to complete the Alumni Abbreviated application.You are welcomed to contact the graduate admissions office to check on your eligibility.
Alumni applying to degrees or license programs outside of their original programs MUST follow the complete application instructions for the new program. Alumni applying to the Doctorate program must submit all required application materials except the $50 application fee. The fee is waived. Check here for the new intended program’s requirements.

For applicants who were admitted to the graduate school and completed or graduated from a degree, endorsement, or licensure program less than five years ago.
Alumni Application requirements
For applicants who were admitted to the graduate school and completed or graduated from a degree, endorsement, or licensure program more than five years ago and are applying to a program in their original program’s department.
Please submit the following items. The Admissions office will notify you if additional documents and information are required.
Download our Personal Essay form (.pdf) for individual program essay topics and instructions. Essays may be submitted electronically (email attachment or as part of the online application) or in paper format (hand delivered, mailed or faxed) and may be single-spaced or double-spaced.

Online or paper (pdf) $50 application fee is waived.

One letter of recommendation with completed recommendation form (pdf)
NOTE: If you are applying to a Teacher Education Inservice program, the letter of recommendation must be from a principal or supervisor who has observed your student teaching or licensed teaching within the last five years. Applicants to an Educational Leadership program must also submit a letter from a principal or supervisor.
Official copies of transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended since completing your previous graduate program at Lewis & Clark (if any). Additional transcripts may be required if requesting a course waiver or transferring credit to your current studies.
College of Arts and Sciences and Law School Alumni
Alumni of the College of Arts and Sciences and/or the Law School must submit all required application materials including the $50 application fee. You may need to contact CAS or the law school registrar’s office and request an official copy of your Lewis & Clark transcript be sent to the graduate school. We may not have access to all CAS or law school records.
