What is Peer Mentoring?

A peer mentor is a trusted partner in recovery who provides encouragement and guidance as you build your new life. They work to help you design a personal recovery program, identify healthy coping strategies, and encourage you to set achievable goals and personal commitments.

In peer mentoring, you are partnered with a Certified Gambling Recovery Mentor—someone who has been where you are and understands the impacts gambling can have on your life. Lewis & Clark Problem Gambling Services works with Voices of Problem Gambling Recovery to provide you with a Certified Gambling Recovery Mentor.

Your peer mentor will work in conjunction with your counselor to support your recovery, while respecting your confidentiality and personal goals.

Your mentor will help you focus on your strengths, talents, and values to create a recovery that works for you. By providing personal support and access to community resources, your peer mentor connects you with the recovery community in a way that is customized for your goals and needs.
