Professor of educational leadership Sue Feldman has a new article out called “Racial-Equity Policy as Leadership Practice: Using Social Practice Theory to Analyze Policy as Practice” in the International Journal of Multicultural Education.

The article looks at the longstanding problem of the disconnection between education policy and leadership practice. “Using Oregon as an example,” Feldman writes, “we illustrate a relationship between equity-policy design and leadership practice that may help identify weaknesses and strengths in equity-policy designs and ultimately support better equity policy for leadership practice.”

Feldman’s current research focuses on learning-focused leadership and urban school and school district leaders’ data practices.
