Join Lewis & Clark’s Reading Intervention Endorsement Cohort in in East Portland this spring for Literature for Children and Adolescents, meeting at Jefferson High School. Our Reading Intervention Endorsement Program applies a dynamic view of literacy to reading and writing instruction in schools, building upon the belief that language—in all its richness of form and function—is the foundation from which effective literacy evolves.

Upcoming Course in Cohort Sequence
READ 613 Literature for Children and Adolescents (Spring 2018): Participants will explore the use of literature for children and adolescents as a healthy, growing body of work, and as an important resource for teachers. This course will investigate available literature, specific authors and illustrators, and their processes of composing. Participants will also learn methods to incorporate a rich diet of literary experiences into their students’ learning environment, as well as ways of supporting meaningful learning experiences responsive to individual differences, interests, developmental levels, and cultural contexts.
This hybrid course will meet at Jefferson High School in northeast Portland, and is offered at a special cohort-based off-campus tuition rate.

Dates: Wednesdays, January 10, 24, February 7, 21, March 14, 2018, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Online work is completed between class sessions.
