This course is part of a series of Oregon Writing Project courses for teachers interested in working as writing coaches in schools and districts.
Participants will examine current research from writing and coaching fields to learn effective coaching practices, develop grade-level and content-level inservice workshops, practice presentation skills.
Participants will engage in an individual inquiry to apply the principles they develop through the course to support local school and district reform efforts aimed at improving writing instruction for diverse learners.
This course is open to those that have completed the OWP Summer Institute

Dates/Times: Saturdays, September 14, October 5, November 2, December 7, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. plus two days of research and planning the week of August 19-23, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Location: September-December classes meet at Lewis & Clark; August planning sessions meet at Jefferson High School, 5210 N. Kerby Ave., Portlad

About the Instructor
Linda Christensen, M.Ed. has been involved in the Oregon Writing Project (OWP) since her first National Writing Project Summer Institute in 1980. An often requested keynote speaker at educator conferences nationally and internationally, Linda has taught and/or provided literacy coaching in public schools for over 30 years, including seven years as the PPS district language arts specialist, and regularly provides professional development in writing across the curriculum for regional schools. Linda is a social justice activist, leader, and author for Rethinking Schools, a national grassroots teacher reform organization, and author of two books: Reading, Writing and Rising Up and Teaching for Joy and Justice.
