Community Engagement

Through the Center for Community Engagement, our work at the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling is rooted in communities. Our teaching, research, and service draw upon deep understandings of professional knowledge and the needs and assets of the vibrant and varied communities in the Portland metro area, state, region, and beyond.

Our ongoing, major projects include: Courage to Teach, Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Northwest Writing Institute, Off-Campus Endorsement Programs, Oregon Writing Project, and Project Dialogue.

Ivan Coyote weaves humour and hard-hitting homocore reality into a series of interconnected stories that touch on and tackle topics such as gender identity, class, growing up queer in a small northern town, and kitchen table family memoirs.

Join us for a brown bag talk and Q&A with Binka Le Breton, author of Where the Road Ends: A Home in the Brazilian Rain Forest, the story of the journey she and her husband took across the world to build their dream home in the heart of the Amazon in 1989.
