What three words would you use to describe L&C?
What’s your favorite class? How has it expanded your knowledge?
My favorite class is Cold War Culture with Associate Professor Therese Augst. The class has allowed me to tap into both my knowledge of international affairs and German studies to evaluate what happened during this crucial period of history. I also reflect upon my experiences abroad and connect them to themes discussed each week. I look forward to every class as I know that I will leave enriched from the engaging lectures and discussions.
What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?
I chose Lewis & Clark because I knew the benefits of receiving a liberal arts education that values the holistic growth of students. As a student with varying interests, I knew I would be best supported in this environment to explore my curiosities and involve myself in all departments around campus. I also admired Lewis & Clark’s strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, which made me feel supported as a first-generation woman of color.
How did your financial aid package influence your decision to attend Lewis & Clark?
As the first person to attend college in my family, affording the type of education I wanted to pursue was not easy. Lewis & Clark gave me a grand opportunity to follow my dreams of graduating college and finding my way in the world. They opened doors for me that were not possible before, so I knew the best decision for my future was to trust my heart and the investment the college was making in my success.
What do you think the value of a liberal arts education is?
I believe the value of a liberal arts education is being supported to succeed in personal and academic development. This includes discovering one’s interests through exploring the different areas of discipline on campus. This type of education allows students, like myself, to get involved in the surrounding communities and feel welcomed. This has great value as it is truly the best way to expand on intellectual curiosities while developing a strong backbone of critical thinking and communication.
