Teaching With Purpose Leadership Institute Goals and Objectives

Theory of Action—If leadership teams participate in equity policy analysis, and identify the challenges and benefits of being a culturally responsive system, then they will become ambassadors for improving Oregon’s education equity policy and practice.

Leadership Institute Objectives

Throughout a year long inquiry process, participating leadership teams will:

  1. Increase their knowledge of Oregon’s equity laws and local school district equity policies. 
  2. Assess their own equity policy context.
  3. Design and enact culturally responsive practices.
Leadership Institute Goals 
  1. Increase collaboration between school districts working to improve culturally responsive practices throughout their district. 
  2. Learn with and from nationally and internationally recognized scholars and practitioners of culturally responsive practices.
  3. Understand and use the research and theory behind culturally responsive practices.
  4. Develop new culturally responsive practices.
  5. Evaluate how current laws related to equity are being implemented and applied at the state and school district level.
  6. Develop a coherent, context-specific theory of action and logic model to conceptualize their team’s culturally responsive practices. 
  7. Develop a strategic implementation plan to increase culturally responsive practices throughout the district.
