Kate Smock

Kate Smock BA ’18 was the recipient of the 2018 Rena J. Ratte Award, which recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement. Smock, a nontraditional student, transferred to Lewis & Clark from community college. She was soon offered the opportunity to intern with NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon, where she developed a fundraising guide for the Safe Travels Fund to assist donors contributing to women seeking access to health care. She plans to continue research on transnational gentrification, and ultimately, to pursue a PhD in sociology.
