Hometown:  Fountain Valley, CA (But now I’ve lived in Beaverton for 22 years, so I really consider it to be home.)

Favorite spot on campus:  The new bridge over the ravine. The first time I walked across it felt almost magical because it is such a breathtakingly beautiful space!

Little-known fact about me:  I’ve finished the Portland Marathon once and done the Portland to Coast (the walking division of the Hood to Coast, the biggest and greatest relay race in the world!) twice.  But my true love is not walking or running.  It’s swimming.  And I’ve asked for my own swimming pool every summer for as long as I can remember but I’ve never gotten it.

Piece of advice for students in the college search process:  Start by asking every adult you know where they went to college and what they liked and disliked about their experience.  It’s a great way to find out about places you might have never heard of and also to learn about what really matters in terms of the college experience from those who have been through it.  Then take that information and start thinking about what you want out of your college experience and what types of schools might be a good match for you.

Favorite place to spend time in Portland:  Beaverton Farmers Market.  I go absolutely gaga over beautiful veggies & fruits and yummy foods.  And it’s got such a festive atmosphere with live music, kids playing in the fountains, and people picnic-ing.  I almost always run into people I know and I always come home with something amazing to eat.

If I was stranded on a desert island, I would want these three things:  1) Sunglasses, 2) Kayak, and 3) a Trader Joe’s store.  Then I wouldn’t be “stranded”; I’d be on the perfect vacation.

If I didn’t work in Admissions, I would be: A caterer, or something else involving growing, cooking and/or eating great food.
