Nicholas Keen

Degree: MA ’20
Program: Art Therapy

What led you to enroll at Lewis and Clark’s Graduate School of Education and Counseling?

Though I originally applied to attend Marylhurst, I decided to come here because I believe in the integrity of those responsible for the program, regardless of the institutional venue.

Who or what inspired you to pursue your chosen field of study?

Pursuing art therapy never felt like a choice ~ it has always felt like more of a calling. Art has always been there for me. Once I became privy to the option of pursuing a masters in this field, I knew it was what I should be doing.

What does social justice mean to you?

It means equal opportunity through supporting and empowering vulnerable individuals and populations.

How do you hope to apply your social justice education in your chosen career?

In anyway I can.

Where have you been working/interning as a student, and what does that work entail?

I work in childcare. It is honorable work that asks a lot of any individual who choses to practice. It entails providing an emotionally and physically safe space for children.
