Biography

Rachel Maremont is the Chief Clinic Attorney at Metropolitan Public Defender where she supervises law students in the inaugural class of Lewis and Clark’s Criminal Defense Practicum. Rachel is a 2021 graduate of New York University School of Law, where she was the recipient of the Eric Dean Bender Prize for public service and an Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Rights Fellow. After graduating from law school, Rachel joined MPD’s downtown Portland office, where she represented low-income people in misdemeanor and felony cases from arraignment through trial. She subsequently spent a year teaching at the University of Miami School of Law’s Immigration Clinic before returning to Portland and MPD.
