Kay graduated from Portland State University in 1968 with BS in education, but her profession has been in accounting since 1981, upon receipt of CPA licensure in Maryland. After an 8 year stint in public accounting, she helped cofound and lead several biotech firms beginning in the 1980’s. She is currently CFO of VSI Enterprises, Inc. and a shareholder and consultant to the family business, Longhorn Vaccines and Diagnostics, LLC.
She co-founded The Fischer Family Foundation in 2000 and continues as Executive Director.The Foundation primarily serves the Arts, Religion, Education, and Community Outreach.
She has served on Boards of small businesses, church committees, and the National Committee for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In Washington DC.
Kay and her husband Jerry Fischer, LC 68, have lived in the DC area since 1977 where they raised their two children, Krista and Jeff. They are very fortunate that their 4 grandchildren are also being raised in the DC area. The Fischers have enjoyed travelling in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean for both business and pleasure and look forward to doing so again in the future.
