Jerry Fischer

Jerry Fischer is Chairman and CEO of Longhorn Vaccines and Diagnostics LLC, Bethesda, MD. The company is focused on developing molecular diagnostic products and vaccines to combat global epidemics and pandemics.

After graduating from Lewis & Clark College (BA ’68) and the University of Oregon Medical School in Portland Oregon, he completed Pediatric Training and an Infectious Disease Fellowship in the United States Army. He spent 17 of his 23 years in the US Army at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland where he was a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. He retired from the Army as a colonel in 1993.

Jerry has been involved with launching several Biotech companies. In his position at Longhorn, he continues to work with the military and other organizations in the area of infectious diseases and global health.

He remains actively involved with the Pediatric Infectious Disease Programs at USU and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and is an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at USU.

Jerry is a member of the Lewis and Clark Board of Trustees. He and his wife Kay grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon and now live in Bethesda, MD. They have two grown children and 4 grandchildren.
