Secondary Teaching
Hello! My name is Gabriel Huerta (he/him) and I am a first-year student in the Masters of Teaching Secondary program with a focus in Social Studies. I attended Lewis & Clark College of Arts & Sciences for undergrad and received a degree in History. Many of the roles I held throughout undergrad led me to the MAT Secondary program. I was previously a Lead Resident Advisor for Campus Living, a Project Leader for the Center for Social Change and Community Involvement, a Sexual Awareness Peer Advocate, and a camp counselor for a transgender and genderqueer summer camp. Portland has become my home in the past 4 years, and I’ve enjoyed discovering new thrift stores, boba spots, and dog-friendly parks to take my dog Luna to.
