Department Chair and Professor of Counseling Psychology Tod Sloan discusses the implications of a new hyperlocal social network, Bright Neighbor, in GOOD magazine.
The site, founded in Portland in 2008, was designed to help neighbors barter, plan ride shares, and offer classes or informal lessons.
Sloan, a member of the Bright Neighbor network, says the site is helping people relearn skills, like gardening, that are vital to sustainability initiatives.
