40 Graduate Students to Receive $1000 Scholarship from Ruth L. Sigal Scholarship Fund

The awards will be announced in late October and provide support to first-generation students, BIPOC students, and students with the greatest financial need.

Thanks to the Ruth L. Sigal Scholarship Fund, 40 students at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling will receive gifts of $1000 each to support their graduate school education. The awards will be announced in late October and provide support to first-generation students, BIPOC students, and students with the greatest financial need.

The Ruth L. Sigal Scholarship Fund—a five-year, $250,000 commitment from Ruth Sigal—is inspired by the courageous and important work Lewis & Clark graduate students do in their communities every day, and especially the work they have done during the pandemic. While its primary purpose is to provide financial support to our future educators and counselors as they prepare to enter professions essential to supporting individuals, families, schools, and communities, the Sigal Scholarship Fund is unique in the fact that a portion of each year’s gift is also designated to help us tell our students’ stories through Lewis & Clark’s Exploring for the Global Good campaign.

Ruth truly believes that what the world needs most is what we do best, and we do too. We look forward to sharing opportunities to connect and learn more about the graduate school’s inspiring, innovative, and sustaining work as the year progresses.
