GEI Welcomes Elon Hasson as Interim Executive Director

GEI is excited to announce that Elon Hasson has joined our team as our interim executive director.

The Green Energy Institute is happy to welcome Elon Hasson as our interim Executive Director. Mr. Hasson is a Lewis & Clark Law School Alum who has worked in the renewable energy industry for the majority of the last decade. He also brings deep experience in management for nonprofits and industry groups. 

The Green Energy Institute (GEI) is committed to transitioning to a 100% renewable energy power grid. As such, Elon will work with Melissa Powers, the organization’s founder and faculty director, to allow her and her team to focus on the policy and research that has made GEI a premier comprehensive resource in the field. In addition to the directors, a staff attorney and policy analyst, GEIcurrently hosts two fellows who received JD degrees from Lewis & Clark Law School and are currently earning LLM degrees in environmental and energy law.  

The primary goal of the interim executive director is to onboard a permanent executive director and accelerate GEI’s ability to advocate for the transition to 100% clean energy. During this period, Mr. Hasson will work with stakeholders in the Western United States to represent GEI and help plan future partnerships and collaborative efforts. Mr. Hasson will develop best practices for the organization and provide overarching management consulting. 

Elon Hasson holds a Juris Doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School and a Masters of Science in Analytics from the University of Chicago. He most recently served as Vice President of Development for Onyx Renewables, a Blackstone Portfolio company. Prior to Onyx, Elon was National Policy Director for E.ON Climate and Renewables, the largest public utility in Germany. He is currently a management consultant based in Portland, Oregon.
