Electricity Essentials: Lewis & Clark Law School CLE Available Online

Lewis & Clark Law School is pleased to announce the availability of an exciting on-line Continuing Legal Education course for attorneys, policymakers, and anyone else interested in energy law issues.

Lewis & Clark Law School Professor and Director of the Green Energy Institute, Melissa Powers, is presenting Electricity Essentials: Renewables, Utilities & Transmission. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the U.S. electricity supply and will address the following key components, important to anyone seeking a better understanding of the electricity system in the United States:

•Introduction: overview of key terms and participants, history of the power sector development, and likely changes ahead;

•Utility Regulation: historical foundation for utility regulation, monopoly regulation, and implications of rate regulation;

•Electricity Regulation: The Federal Power Act and state vs. federal regulation, restructuring and jurisdictional implications;

•Renewables: overview of renewable sources and policies (including tax credits, renewable portfolio standards, and net metering and feed-in tariffs); and

•Transmission: transmission overview, siting issues, and cost allocation.

This CLE consists of over 7 hours of recorded lectures, and accompanying materials which can be viewed at your convenience at any time.

Cost for the class is $250. The course has been approved for 7 CLE credits in Oregon.
