Matt Wuerker is the in house cartoonist and illustrator for Politico. He previously had a successful freelance career, with cartoons published widely over 30 years in newspapers and magazines including the Los Angeles Times,Washington Post, Smithsonian, and the Nation.

Matt Wuerker  is the in house cartoonist and illustrator for Politico. He previously had a successful freelance career, with cartoons published widely over 30 years in newspapers and magazines including the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Smithsonian, and the Nation. “I like the usefulness of good political cartoons and imagery,” says Wuerker. “There’s something very satisfying about contributing to the ongoing political conversation and there’s also something very satisfying when you succeed in making people laugh.” Wuerker has been a two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and in April 2010 he won the Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning at the Library of Congress. A long-time member of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, Wuerker currently serves as the association’s vice president. He is also on the board of the Cartoonists Rights Network International. Two collections of his cartoons have been published.
