PK-12 Concentration with Principal License

The PK-12 concentration with Principal License allows incoming students to complete the coursework necessary to be recommended for the principal license alongside their doctorate.

Lewis & Clark’s innovative, cohort-based PK-12 doctoral program in leadership is committed to developing extraordinary leaders committed to social justice and equity. Noted for preparing scholar-practitioners who create transformational change in their educational settings, this program empowers students to immediately and directly improve conditions and learning structures for PK-12 students.

Program Details

Credits: 64 semester hours

  • Principal License Courses: 16 credits
  • Principal Practicum/Clinical Field Experience Courses: 4 credits
  • Doctoral Courses: 44 credits

A Social Justice Focus

The mission of the program is to promote social justice and equity through PK-12 education. The themes of social justice and equity run throughout the classes that constitute both the Principal License Program and the Doctor of Education in Leadership Program.

Applied Knowledge and Research

The research of degree candidates is directly applicable to conditions, programs, and/or structures in the educational settings where you work.

To achieve an effective integration of each candidate’s personal development with program goals and design, the curriculum emphasizes leadership for social justice, critical theory and pedagogy, a variety of research methods.
