Yes. Registration is required in order to participate. The deadline to register is Friday, May 28, 2021. Register
- You will enter the campus at Gate Two on the north side of the main campus (the first entrance on the main campus). Campus Safety officers will direct you from the street onto the route.
- Depending on the number of vehicles on the route, Campus Safety officers may direct you through the Upper and Lower Griswold parking lots and also possibly through the Tennis Dome parking lot on your way to the service road at Olin.
- As you enter the service road at Olin and begin to drive up past the library, you will come to the Celebration Zone in the area of Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion. There you’ll see faculty and staff cheering you on.
- You will stop briefly at the Celebration Zone near Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion where you will be handed your L&C GSEC Celebration Gift Bag, including a diploma cover.
- You will then exit the campus at Gate 3 (Campus Safety).
Once you enter the service road at Olin, L&C GSEC faculty, staff, and leadership will be there to cheer you on – while following social distancing measures, wearing appropriate face coverings, and following strict event guidelines. Due to COVID-19 and traffic safety, only faculty and staff will be allowed to line the celebration route. Guests, community members, and students are asked to remain in the vehicles. (The Celebration Zone will primarily be between the Glade and Zehtbauer Swimming Pavilion.)
No. Due to COVID-19 and traffic safety, guests, community members, and students will not be allowed to stand along the route. Family and friends are encouraged to ride along with you in your vehicle.
You should plan to arrive at the time designated for your program.
1 - 2 p.m. PMHC, PMHC-Addictions, Art Therapy, and EdD/EDLL graduates
2 - 3 p.m. MCFT, School Psychology, and Student Affairs Administration graduates
3 - 4 p.m. School Counseling, MAT, MEd: Curriculum & Instruction, and MEd: Administration graduates
Yes, after the drive-through you may return your rental regalia to the Graduate Registrar’s office (Graduate School Campus (Gate 7), Rogers Hall, Room 301).
Most vehicles are permitted on the route—the only limitations are due to foliage and other clearance concerns. Vehicle height can be no more than 9’ and the length limited to 21’ (e.g. no RVs, 5th-wheels, tour buses, or limousines, but most Sprinter-type vans and similar vehicles are permissible). Basically, the vehicle must be able to park in a standard city parking space, and it cannot be too tall, otherwise it will not clear the foliage cover at the Gate 3 service drive nor be able to make the corner at Olin.
Once you enter campus, if you are in an open-air vehicle, if the windows are rolled down, and/or if you are interacting with faculty and staff (for instance during check-in or when receiving your celebration bag), face masks will be required.
No. For safety, we ask that you remain in your vehicle at all times and faculty/staff must maintain appropriate social distance from your vehicle. (The exception is for an emergency or an urgent restroom stop.)
The one scheduled stop will be when you briefly pause at the Celebration Zone where you will be handed your L&C GSEC Commencement Gift Bag including the diploma cover.
Faculty and staff attending the post-commencement drive-through celebration may park in any of the lots between Gate 4 (Gatehouse) and Gate 7 (Graduate Campus) the afternoon of the drive-through. (The Upper Griswold, Lower Griswold/Tennis Dome, Evans, Fir Acres, Campus Safety, and Lower Pamplin parking lots, all along the drive-through route, will be closed.) The drive-through route, including a map of the entire campus, is linked here.
Faculty are encouraged to wear regalia to the post-commencement drive-through celebration. Staff attending are welcome to wear GSEC or celebratory gear (no need to wear the usual black attire of ushers for this event).
