OWP: Teaching Course Content With Writing

  • News Image

How do science teachers teach students to write effective lab reports? How do social studies teachers effectively teach expository or argumentative essays without giving up a chunk of content instructional time? How do health teachers integrate good writing instruction without the burden of having to “teach” writing? And how do all content teachers “correct” and assess student writing, based on the goals of the lesson? This hands-on course will demonstrate writing strategies across the curriculum that will teach writing to help students master content knowledge and demonstrate proficiency.
