Date: March 20 2013 4:30pm - 6:00pm Location: South Chapel - Graduate Campus
Please join us for an information session to learn more about the courseEcoscapes: Habitats and Culture of Costa Rica which meets Friday, July 12-Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Costa Rica.
Ecoscapes: Habitats and Culture of Costa Rica introduces teachers to the natural history and biodiversity of Costa Rica as well as to the language and customs of the people.
Participants will journey across Costa Rica’s extraordinary landscapes, from once-glaciated peaks of volcanic rock to cloud forests, from lowland rain forests to mangrove swamps. Along the way, we’ll savor local foods, visit a rural school, and observe tropical agriculture.
Before departing for the remote Campanario Field Station on the Osa Peninsula, participants will enjoy a memorable stay with a host family in Sierpe, practice conversational Spanish, participate in a service project, and conduct a short field investigation.
From this immersion in the habitats and culture of Costa Rica, participants will gain an understanding of Costa Rica’s environment within a cultural context.
