I am coming from another state where I already hold a master’s degree and school counseling license. I was told that I need to take a teaching practicum course in order to qualify for an Oregon license. Can I take that course at Lewis & Clark?
At this time, we do not allow students to take only one course before we recommend them for licensure. However, we may consider the ability for someone to take this course as a non-admitted, non-licensure student on a case-by-case basis. This course is a year long and is available to begin only in the fall. Please contact the program director in this situation. We also encourage students to explore other school counseling programs in Oregon that may offer this as a stand-alone course.
Specific questions can be referred to our office of K-12 Educational Career & Licensing Services (ECLS).
