Please explain the difference between an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology.
Most students pursuing the M.A. expect to go into practice. A significant number do, however, go on to doctoral studies. Students pursuing an M.S. typically intend to pursue doctoral studies. Many also want to work in program evaluation or other research. The M.A. program does not require a thesis, whereas the M.S. program culminates with a research thesis. There are slight differences in the course requirements for the M.S. If you are interested in the option, ask the office for more specific information and discuss your ideas with an advisor.
