Ongoing communication between English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) faculty and local school administrators highlight the urgent challenges facing many districts as they struggle to provide quality programs for their English Language Learner (ELL) students in a time of intense budgetary pressures. We hosted a one-day summit in order to prepare for Oregon Department of Education audits and strengthen university and district partnerships, which brought together local English as a Second Language (ESL) Directors to strategize, network, and collaborated on ways to effectively address legal mandates and maintain quality ELL programs during these troubled times.
