Job Opportunity: Part-time autism team

A part time position working with a young man with autism.

Part Time Job Opportunity for Students Majoring in Psychology or Related Fields

This is an opportunity to work with a private family and join a team of people who are using the best evidence to develop programming for an amazing young man with autism. The goal is to help him become as independent as possible, integrated into his community and reach his full potential. You will be guided by a group of Board Certified Behavior Analysts and work with experienced staff who will train you. (Located in NW Portland, approximately 25 minutes from campus)

Flexible hours preferred for training period which is approximately 2 to 3 months. After training, hours will be: 13.5 – 15 hours per week. Wednesday 2:30pm – 4:30pm, Friday 4:30pm – 8pm, Saturday 9:00am -1:00pm and Sunday 2:00pm to 6:00pm. More hours available in the future. College credit may apply so check with your advisor. $13.00 per hour training wage. Once trained, your wage will increase.

Ideal candidate must: •Be reliable and punctual. •Be able to pass a criminal background check. •Have a reliable car and proof of auto insurance. You will be driving this young man to many places in the community. (Mileage reimbursement will be provided.) •Be able to make a minimum 12 month commitment because of all the training required and the relationship that is formed. •Be able to work weekends Ideal candidate will: •Have an interest in Psychology and Autism At least some college coursework in Psychology preferred. •Have a desire to work with adults who have autism. •Be a good observational learner. •Have an outgoing and compassionate personality; good sense of humor and like to have fun! •Be comfortable working alone and with a team. •Enjoy being active! This is a very athletic young man who is involved in many sports such as running, biking, skiing, swimming, skateboarding, roller blading and hiking. He also enjoys working out at the gym, yoga, and playing the piano. •Know Apple devices well and feel comfortable around technology. (Be able to trouble shoot when necessary.) We will working with Apple Watch soon.
