Members needed for Sustainability and Transportation Committees

Represent the grad school to one of these committees.

If you would like to serve on the Transportation & Parking Committee or Sustainability Committee, contact Amy Dvorak at advorak@lclark.edu. The Transportation and Parking Advisory Committee meets more or less monthly, on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m.

The dates are:

Wed October 22, 2014 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. TPAC - Bldg #5 JR Howard Hall 302 Conf. Room

Wed November 19, 2014 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. TPAC - Bldg #5 JR Howard Hall 302 Conf. Room

Wed February 25, 2015 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. TPAC - Bldg #5 JR Howard Hall 302 Conf. Room

 Wed April 22, 2015 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. TPAC - Bldg #5 JR Howard Hall 302 Conf. Room

(There might be January and March meetings if circumstances arise that require them)

TPAC advises the VP for Business and Finance on the College’s transportation policies, including shuttles, transit passes, parking fees and violations, etc. It is important to have a grad student rep on the committee so that the college higher-ups get a sense of the impact of their decisions on real live students. Sometimes there is a dynamic where decisions are made with undergraduate residential students in mind, and commuter students (both grad and law) are an afterthought.

Serving on the committee means being able to show up and hopefully be that voice for how college policies are affecting you and your classmates. The October meeting will be important because it will represent another opportunity to get some longstanding proposals developed by the Committee into the budget for the coming year, including subsidized daily as well as monthly trimet passes for students, and a new SW Portland shuttle service designed to supplement the #39 in terms of hours and frequency.
