In an article shared on the Huffington Post, professor Ruth Shagoury investigates the rebel legacy of Helen Keller. More than just a “courageous” woman who overcame blindness, Keller was an activist of the first order—agitating around issues of disability and class, socialism, women, and war. “As a defiant rebel, she could be a true hero for 21st century activists,” writes Shagoury.

The article, “Who Stole Helen Keller?” was original published as part of the Zinn Education Project, to which Shagoury is a contributor.
