High Desert School District and LC receive $1 million to improve history teaching in Oregon

Announcement: A rural central Oregon school district and the graduate school have received a grant for $1million to improve the teaching of American history.

The High Desert Educational School District (Redmond, Oregon) and the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling have received a $942,705 grant from the Department of Education to improve the teaching of American history.

The grant will improve instruction and raise student achievement by helping 150 teachers of grades 4-12 develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of U.S. history. The grant will extend over 5 years and will support weekend workshops for teachers that address gaps in historical content.
