WavePencilBone: Conjuring Creativity
WavePencilBone is guided by the principle that creative work flourishes through new approaches to known forms, and that inspiration is fueled by the integration of poetry, drawing, movement, and sound.
This workshop will provide K-12 teachers with simple time-tested tricks that set the stage for creative problem solving in their classrooms. The practices taught here bring together the fields of writing, art, music and movement, creating the conditions for innovation and revelation in learners young and old.
Participants will:
- Get comfortable juggling various artistic disciplines and explore the creative potential of combining them.
- Be trained to lead a K-12 classroom in six creative exercises involving writing/drawing, movement/dance/tableau, and sound making/sound interpreting.
- Receive materials and explanations of ten additional exercises with similar designs.
- Design their own creative exercises that involve the combination or hybridization of at least three art forms.
- Have fun!
