This unique multimodal workshop is designed for the K-12 teacher who wants more creativity in the classroom. This workshop is also appropriate for other leaders who want more outside-of-the-box collaboration.

Guided by the principle that creative work flourishes through new approaches to known forms, the practices taught in this workshop weave writing, drawing, sound, and movement, creating the conditions for innovation and revelation in learners of all ages. The results are often profound, and the lessons lasting. Along the way, bonding occurs between participants in this unusual creative inquiry.

Whether you consider yourself an “uncreative” novice or a seasoned innovator, you can expect to come away with valuable understanding and exercises that will improve your leadership experience, whether it is in front of a classroom or in other educational settings.

An added benefit for Oregon public school teachers is that workshop content directly addresses state standards for Create, Present, and Perform and Aesthetics/Criticism.

Participants will:

• Get comfortable juggling various artistic disciplines and explore the creative potential of combining them.

• Be trained to lead a K-12 classroom in six creative exercises involving writing/drawing, movement/dance/tableau, and sound making/sound interpreting.

• Receive materials and explanations of ten additional exercises with similar designs.

• Design their own creative exercises that involve the combination or hybridization of at least three art forms.

• Have fun!

Who should attend?

In addition to K-12 teachers and other educational professionals, creative team managers and non-profit leadersespecially of performing arts organizationswill also benefit from this workshop.

Past participants are saying…

“Great ideas - just when I needed them!”

“The most valuable aspect of this workshop was the experiential learning - each lesson was experienced by participants.”

“It was a bonding experience.”
