A Solid September for Language Arts Teachers

This workshop offers tried and true structures and tips for middle and high school language arts teachers to get the school year started off right.
The focus will be on getting students to love their books and reading silently, and will provide two writing units to begin the year, as well as classroom structures that establish a focused, productive, and accessible language arts class.

About the Instructor
Frank Thomas was born and raised in Northeast Portland and graduated from Grant High School in 2002. He then went on to Portland State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Frank then went to Lewis & Clark College and graduated from the Master of Arts in Teaching program. Frank was hired by the Gresham Barlow School District and has been working in high school and middle school Language Arts classrooms for the past 6 years. He’s also coached basketball in the district. On his time off Frank enjoys spending time with his dog Eva at his home in Portland and playing outdoors in the Cascades.
