Teaching Revision by Examining William Stafford’s “In the Oregon Country”

Date: 5:00pm - 8:00pm PDT January 28 PST Location: South Chapel

During Lewis & Clark’s yearlong celebration of William Stafford’s life and work, this workshop offers a moment to pause and examine both the writer’s poetry and his revision process. Participants will use Stafford’s poem, “In the Oregon Country,” as a source text and model for writing and revising their own poetry.

Participants will write and revise their their own poems paralleling Stafford’s process, peeling off place names from maps significant to their own lives. This workshop is appropriate for upper elementary through high school teachers.
