This course prepares graduates of the Oregon Writing Project Summer Institute to become school/district writing coaches.
Beginning with a three-day writing retreat and continuing with monthly Saturday workshops, participants will write about school life and teaching, theory and practice, and opinion pieces around the teaching of writing.

Dates/times/locations: Friday-Sunday, January 10-12, 2014, 5 p.m. Friday-1 p.m. Sunday, Menucha Retreat and Conference Center, Corbett, OR
Saturdays, February 1, March 1, April 19, May 17, June 7, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at Lewis & Clark
Thursday, February 20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., OWP Renewal Day, McMenamins Kennedy School, Northeast Portland
Degree-applicable credit: ED 597-W01, 3 semester hours, $2,412
Continuing education credit: CEED 897-W01, 3 semester hours, $1,050
Fee: $20 for Renewal Day

About the Instructor
Linda Christensen, M.Ed. has been involved in the Oregon Writing Project (OWP) since her first National Writing Project Summer Institute in 1980. An often requested keynote speaker at educator conferences nationally and internationally, Linda has taught and/or provided literacy coaching in public schools for over 30 years, including seven years as the PPS district language arts specialist, and regularly provides professional development in writing across the curriculum for regional schools. Linda is a social justice activist, leader, and author for Rethinking Schools, a national grassroots teacher reform organization, and author of two books: Reading, Writing and Rising Up and Teaching for Joy and Justice.
