Participants in this workshop will build an understanding of the Common Core Mathematical Practices and how they are integrated into the Common Core content. Learn how to enhance skills in identifying students exhibiting the Mathematical Practices and integrate the Mathematical Practices with instruction to support student proficiency.

About the Instructors

Ann McMahon, M.A.T. ‘95 is a retired PPS teacher. She’s a member of the Oregon Council of Teachers of Mathematics Board. She substitutes, works as a supervisor for Lewis & Clark interns in the graduate school, and facilitates professional development for the Professional Development Cadre. Ann is an author of Making Sense of Problem Solving for K-5 Teachers.

Roxanne Malter has been a middle school mathematics teacher in the Portland metro area for thirty-five years. She also serves on the board of the Oregon Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Currently, she is writing and presenting workshops for the Professional Development Cadre, supervising interns for Lewis & Clark College, and instructing at Portland State University in the Graduate School of Education program for Elementary Mathematics Instructional Leaders.
