Professional Biography
Marty is the interim program coordinator for the Early Childhood/Elementary Preservice MAT program. He spent the first 16 years of his professional career in the Beaverton School District. In that time he was a middle-level language arts and social studies teacher, a counselor at both the middle and high school level, a teacher on special assignment to work on the district's transition from junior high to middle level, and he served as chair for the district's Superintendent's Advisory Council.He left education for four years and ran his own business. Upon returning to the field of education he went to the Scappoose School District as a high school counselor. After three years, he became the principal of a Scappoose elementary school, which was named an "Oregon exceptional school" his final two years. He then became principal of Banks Elementary School, where he also served as the district's curriculum coordinator. Banks Elementary School was also named an "Oregon exceptional school" his final two years there.
His professional awards include the Golden Apple Award for Beaverton School District, and two Beaverton School District Contributions to Excellence Awards.
