Professional Biography
A founding member of the National Writing Centers Association, Marcia Silver has taught writing at Bard College’s Institute for Writing and Thinking, and since 1989, at Lewis & Clark’s Northwest Writing Institute. She has directed writing centers at Brooklyn College and Portland State University before becoming chief writing consultant in the Graduate School of Education’s Writing Studio. Her research interests are in the history of the English language, medieval love language, and the relationship of language and thinking. She has taught literature and composition to students in high school as well as graduate school and led numerous workshops for teachers in schools and universities across the country.Academic Credentials
