Letter from the Chair

Research indicates that the quality of teaching has the greatest single impact on students’ academic success and the quality of students’ public school learning experiences. The faculty and staff in the Lewis & Clark College Teacher Education Program are committed to the belief that by attracting highly qualified candidates and providing research-based, interactive educational experiences that assist teachers in becoming skilled observers, gifted teachers, and change agents in their classrooms and schools, we can help create school settings in which all students feel valued, believe in themselves, and becomes effective, excited learners.

As a faculty and staff we are passionate about creating a collaborative learning community characterized by collegial, supportive relationships, engaging dialogue, open exploration of ideas and constant attention to new research and knowledge.

Our nationally accredited (NCATE) programs provide committed, bright teacher candidates and practicing teachers with opportunities to grow as professionals and find new ways to help all students be successful learners. We invite you to join this community of practitioner scholars as we work together to improve teaching and school communities with the goal of enhancing learning for all students.
