Dear Lewis & Clark College Graduate Student:
Welcome to the 2008-2009 academic year. We wish you a warm welcome as you begin or continue your studies with us. You are an integral part of our community, and we look forward to your questions, ideas, and amazing contributions both here at the graduate school and throughout our region.

One of the richest treasures of graduate school lies in the relationships you cultivate with others seeking knowledge in related fields of study. We encourage you to take the opportunity to interact with faculty and your colleagues throughout your graduate studies, both in the classroom and outside of formal studies.

The Navigator is the official student handbook of the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. Please read the policies and procedures in this document carefully, as you are responsible for abiding by them. The handbook, together with other materials (such as your program’s handbook for students, advising sheets, or internship manuals, as well as the graduate school’s catalog) will be helpful to you as you navigate your experience at the graduate school.

Every student is expected to know and comply with academic rules. This handbook is correct according to the information available to the administration of the Graduate School of Education and Counseling at the time of publication. Updates will be made to the online version of this handbook on an ongoing basis. A student who is uncertain about the application of the rules to his or her circumstances has the responsibility to seek clarification from the Dean to ensure proper compliance. Any application for relief under these rules must be in the form of a petition to the Dean. Every student shall supply and keep current in the Office of the Registrar an address, telephone number, and email address where the student can be reached.
