School Counseling Initial II License

The following two elective courses from the School Counseling Program offerings satisfy the new requirements for the Initial II School Counselor License. The Initial II credential is the permanent license that replaces the old requirement for a Continuing School Counseling License, and is satisfied by six semester hours of graduate-level, degree-applicable coursework. Both of these courses are offered on the Lewis & Clark campus in a condensed summer format, which makes them convenient options for school counselors from around the state.

  • SCED 550 Clinical Issues for School Counseling
  • SCED 598 College Counseling—College Planning
Offered in the Summer for 1 semester hour with the following description:
This course will expose school counselors to issues and strategies relating to the college counseling needs of high school students. By exploring the current state of college admissions and understanding the position and situation of our individual students, school counseling professionals will begin to develop an educationally appropriate perspective and useful strategies.
