Specialty Studies

In addition to our degree programs, the Department of Counseling Psychology offers a number of specialty sequences of elective courses. Below is information about current offerings.

Studies in Eating Disorders

Associate Coordinator: Jacqueline Abbott

The Eating Disorders Program provides participants with a comprehensive background of knowledge. An 8-semester-hour curriculum consisting of four courses, the program is designed primarily for mental health practitioners, nutritionists and medical personnel working in the field, but is open to all students. Those participants holding a master’s degree or doctoral degree in nutrition, exercise physiology, health, behavioral science, or medicine may complete a practicum experience and apply for Certified Eating Disorders Specialist in Nutrition (CEDN) or Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CDES) certification from the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP).

Information about the complete certificate program and course descriptions can be found on the Continuing Education website.

Studies in Ecopsychology

Associate Coordinator: Thomas Joseph Doherty, Psy.D.

Ecopsychology Studies provides an opportunity for Lewis & Clark and Continuing Studies students to concentrate in practice, scholarship or research focused on the relationship between mental health and environmental and sustainability issues. Resources include advising, course work, independent study, and practice experiences.

There are currently three course offerings: Introduction to Ecopsychology, Eco-Therapy, and Wilderness Therapy Intensive.  Course descriptions can be found on the Electives page.

These courses are also available for credit through the Continuing Education website.  Please check their site for current offerings.
