Community Engagement
School, Teacher and Parent Partnership
In this workshop, administrators, teachers and parents learn about successful school/parent partnership models that support immigrant families. Videos, articles, protocols, and case studies are used to assist school communities in designing asset-based programs that are inclusive and tap into the funds of knowledge that parents poses. Administrators, teachers, and parents will:
- Read and learn about successful partnership models
- Engage in dialogues that map the assets and resources within the community and how these can be used in schools
- Discuss ways in which administrators, teachers and parents can work together to provide a quality education for immigrant children
- Design an action plan to assist the school in creating inclusive, healthy and supportive learning communities
- Create a resource guide for teachers anagencies for available services.
Duration: Three full day sessions (1 planning day with leadership plus 2 full-day sessions)
